Comments are encouraged and appreciated. We are amateur botanist, and we do make mistakes sometimes with our identifications. We strive to make this a good identifying resource. All comments are moderated by me and may take several days to appear. This is due to the high number of inappropriate comments that have nothing to do with this subject.

Wavyleaf Aster (Symphyotrichum undulatum)

Asteraceae (Aster Family)

A stiff, very rough stem bearing spreading branches and loose clusters of flower heads with lavender, violet, or pale blue rays.

There are several varieties of this plant, differing only in the outline of the leaves. The broadly winged leafstalks are particularly noteworthy.

Photographic Location: Montgomery Bell State Park in Middle Tennessee.
