Clingman's Hedgenettle (Stachys clingmanii Small)

This wildflower is a member of the Mint Family (Lamiaceae).

Clingman's Hedgenettle, is a North American species of plants in the mint family. It is found at higher elevations in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and the Carolina's, with additional populations in Illinois, Indiana, and Vermont. It is a threatened species in Tennessee.

  1. It is a lovely specimen - especially with all the fine hairs! I had a great time and so glad you let me know you'd be local so I could hang with you and Judy for a day. Hope we can do it again some time. Glad you got to do the other 2 trails you had mentioned. There are lots more - got to get you to Spruce Flats Falls in Tremont!
